This 1876-S U.S. Trade Dollar is certified and graded AU 55 Details - Cleaned by ANACS (American Numismatic Assoc). This coin has a strong strike, and just a hint of toning. All of the details are distinct.
This 1876-S Trade Dollar was one of those minted between 1873-85, to be used in circulation in the Orient, and to compete with other countries dollar sized coins. These trade dollars were legal tender in the U.S., until 1887. About 5.22 million of the 1876-S coins were original minted. In 1887 the law authorizing trade dollars was repealed, and the U.S. Treasury redeemed and melted many of them.
